Teradata has announced general availability of itsData Analyst Agent on AWS Marketplace, bringing governance and conversational analytics while reducing deployment friction.

Data Analyst Agent provides multi-step analytics through SQL queries and iterative statistical analysis using Python. The agent has security, compliance and governance. It also adapts to existing data models and uses memory and session management, eliminating the need to move or change data.

“Bringing our Data Analyst Agent to AWS Marketplace means customers can activate the intelligence their enterprise has been building for years, delivering real-time outcomes with the governance and security their business demands,” said Sumeet Arora, chief product officer, Teradata.

Teradata’s agent doesn’t require system or data migration, making it easier for organizations to use. Teradata says this agent comes with guidance from Teradata AI Services to help the agent align with enterprise architecture, governance and business requirements.
“Enterprises are looking for AI that delivers results on the data and infrastructure they already have, not solutions that require them to start over,” said Arora.
Though this reduces deployment friction, it’s worth noting that the agent will not be able to solve underlying data concerns. Enterprises encounter recurring issues with duplicated data, as well as structural and semantic inconsistencies Forrester analystJayesh Chaurasiaexplained in aninterview with No Jitter.
“Bad data usually accumulate over time due to organic data and system sprawl, lack of governance discipline, i.e. no shared rules for data creation, quality checks, or stewardship, human workaround culture, inadequate or no ownership and technical debt,” Chaurasia said. He also added that data needs to be complete, accurate, consistent and context-rich with a clear lineage and governance for it to be useful to AI models.
While Teradata’s agent could provide useful business analytics, the output will only be as good as the data the tool is fed.
