Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Many spent their Labor Day shopping local at the PCB Market
“Like to support the people that keep the community a community,” said Ron Noles, a shopper.
Vendors at the market say it has been a successful day.
“It’s been one of the better days that we’ve had,” said vendor Peter Slatcoff. “I’m glad that I made the choice to join them here and be open on Labor Day.”
Shoppers say shopping local benefits everyone.
“You know, it’s not like you’re supporting a big business person that doesn’t put the money back,” said shopper Shelby Rygula, “you’re putting it back into your community and not putting it where you’ll never see it again.”
Local vendors have many different treasures up for sale.
“Well, I cater to the larger women; I have 1x through 5x ladies’ clothes,” said Michele Belangerself, with The Pudgy Pink Pelican.
“I’ve got hemp jewelry, and things I make, the little pin sets, and just whatever comes to me to make, just to make people feel happy and inspirational stuff,” said Angela Lawrence, with Flower Child.
For some vendors, the market is deeper than just buying and selling.
“My husband passed away about a year and a half ago, so a lot of these things are his collectables,” said Pam Smith.
At 77, Smith says selling at the market is her way of connecting with the community.
“The doctors say, don’t just sit, or you’ll go before your time; you need to get out and be with other people; it will lengthen your life,” said Smith, “so that’s why I’m here.”
The PCB Market is open every weekend, Saturdays and Sundays.
