Your goal is to know which marketing activity produces qualified leads and revenue. ROI, return on investment, is the profit a campaign produces compared with what you spent on it. Marketing attribution is the method of assigning credit for a sale or inquiry to the channels that influenced it.
Most dashboards stop short of both. In digital marketing Philippines teams often report rankings, clicks and impressions, and the audience is large: 97.5 million internet users in January 2025, with 90.8 million social media user identities. Those figures describe reach, not sales.
Google’s AI Overviews are available in the Philippines, and AI Overview activity is counted inside overall Web performance data rather than reported on its own. A report that shows traffic alone cannot tell you what happened to the customer before or after the visit.
What AI answers change about how customers find you
AI search visibility is how often and how favourably your business is named or cited in AI-generated answers, such as Google’s AI summaries and chat assistants. It changes the path to your website in three ways.
Fewer clicks. Pew Research Center tracked the browsing of 900 U.S. adults in March 2025. When an AI summary appeared, they clicked a traditional result in 8% of visits, against 15% without one. Only 1% clicked a link inside the summary, and 26% of visits ended on Google, against 16%. This is observed U.S. behaviour, not Philippine data.
More mentions without visits. A customer may see your name in an answer, then search it later or type your address directly.
Unattributed visits. Assistant clicks that arrive without a referrer are filed as Direct traffic, and GA4 cannot label them as AI-driven.
You can measure AI referral sessions, landing pages, leads and conversions. Mentions and the visits they cause later need separate monitoring.
Section notes ask for a list or table of metrics with definition, where to measure and purpose, plus an illustrative peso example, all in about 130 words.
| Metric | Definition | Where to measure | Use |
| Qualified traffic | Engaged sessions: 10+ seconds, two pageviews, or a key event | GA4 | Filters out bounces |
| Qualified leads | Contacts vetted as ready for sales, judged on need, budget, authority and timing | CRM or inquiry log | Separates inquiries from buyers |
| Conversions | Successful form submits, call and WhatsApp clicks, marked as key events | GA4 | Ties traffic to inquiries |
Track a form only after it submits successfully, not on the button click. Test every event in GTM Preview and GA4 DebugView before trusting it.
Illustrative example: ₱50,000 in spend produces 200 leads, so cost per lead is ₱250. If 10 become customers, cost per acquisition is ₱5,000.
Each step down the funnel costs more: ₱250 buys a lead, but ₱5,000 buys a customer.
Tracking brand visibility across search engines and AI assistants
Businesses investing inSEO services in the Philippinesshould measure branded and non-branded search visibility alongside qualified leads and conversions, rather than relying on keyword rankings alone.
In Search Console, the branded-query filter separates branded from non-branded queries. Branded queries approximate existing demand, and non-branded queries show discovery. Because the classification is approximate, a custom regex filter can catch misspellings and product names.
For AI assistants, run a fixed prompt set in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, such as “What are the best [category] providers for Philippine SMEs?” Keep location and language constant, and repeat each prompt because answers vary between runs.
| Check | Record |
| Brand mention and position | Yes/no, rank in list |
| Competitors named | Names |
| Accuracy | Wrong facts |
| Cited domains | Publications and sites |
Branded web mentions correlated most strongly with AI Overview visibility across 75,000 brands, though that does not prove cause. SEO value still comes from qualified leads and conversions, so pair these logs with the outcomes from section 3.
A customer may see a Facebook ad, search your brand name two days later, then message you directly. Last-click reporting gives all the credit to the final step. Facebook’s potential ad reach equalled 78.0% of the Philippine population in January 2025, so social is often where that journey starts, though that figure is audience size, not results.
Tag every campaign link with utmsource (where), utmmedium (how) and utm_campaign (which offer). UTM values are case-sensitive, so “Facebook” and “facebook” split into two rows.
In GA4, the Attribution models report compares how each model credits channels, and the Attribution paths report shows which channels start, assist or close. Judge the journey by qualified inquiries, not clicks. Strong social content, supported by consistentsocial media management services, often shows up as more branded searches and direct messages.
A six-step ROI scorecard you can reuse every month
- Set one goal.Pick a number, such as 20 qualified leads a month.
- Define qualified.Write the criteria down once and keep them fixed.
- Instrument tracking.Mark forms, calls and WhatsApp clicks as key events.
- Log visibility.Record brand presence in search and AI assistants on a fixed date.
- Attribute.Compare channel credit using consistent UTMs.
- Review monthly.Calculate ROI and decide what to keep.
The formula is (sales revenue minus marketing cost) divided by marketing cost, times 100. Where margins differ by product, use gross profit instead of revenue. ROAS only divides revenue by ad spend, so it ignores wages and production costs.
An illustrative month: ₱30,000 ad spend, 50 raw leads, 20 qualified, 5 customers and ₱40,000 gross profit gives 33.3% ROI. For planning, one local calculator uses ₱400 to ₱900 per Meta lead and ₱600 to ₱1,200 per Google lead. Replace those with your own figures after month one.
A single monthly scorecard turns raw spend and lead counts into one ROI number you can compare month to month.
Teams that want help running this can work with a local, Makati-based agency such asArc Innovation & Insights, which combines search visibility, creative strategy and measurable growth.
Five reporting mistakes that distort ROI
- Vanity metrics.Replace pageviews and follower counts with qualified leads and conversion rate.
- Mixed branded and non-branded traffic.Report them separately, since branded searches often come from customers you already reached.
- Missing offline results.Log calls, consultations and store visits as lead, qualified, visit and sale.
- Inconsistent tagging.Fix UTM names, remove duplicate events and check for unassigned traffic in GA4.
- One-off AI visibility checks.Repeat the same prompts on the same date every month.
Your first 30 days of ROI tracking
Week one: verify your Search Console property and link it to GA4 and, if you run ads, Google Ads. Week two: mark your inquiry, call and form events as key events, then submit a test form to confirm they register. Week three: log qualified leads and sales from your CRM or spreadsheet, including offline ones. Week four: run your AI prompt set once, record the baseline, and fill in your first monthly scorecard.
Search Console shows exposure and clicks, not revenue, so the scorecard is where inquiries, sales and cost per customer finally sit side by side.
