Miss. (WLBT) -The most promising innovators in the state are gearing up to showcase their work in hopes of building startups into businesses. Innovate Mississippi offers young companies a direct pipeline to critical seed funding and expert mentorship
Founders of startups from across the state are on the path to getting their companies off the ground and established. Innovate Mississippi’s CoBuilders Cohort is giving nine entrepreneurs a course in turning their work into a business. Chelsea Rogers’ app Card Flow Financial allows users to link all credit cards in one place. It is about to launch.
“We’re gonna get this into the hands of customers and into the hands of people who want automation done for their credit cards who want to kind of set it and forget it and not have to worry about figuring out APRs, balances, due dates and strategies with their credit card every month. We take care of that heavy lifting for them,” said Rogers.
The cohort focuses on technology and innovation deals. Thirty year cyber security specialist Troy Vennon developed a program for companies to find out risk reductions and protect against data hacking.
“What I’m looking for is some help in understanding the sales process, how to build a sales pipeline,” said Vennon. “How to create the funnel, how to work the funnel, how to get in from of an organization that I don’t personally know”.
The process is 12 weeks. They have each been awarded $25,000.00 and could walk away with over $100,000.00 for their company.
“You can do it here. You don’t have to go out of the state. You can build here,” said Innovate MS Eco Systems Manager April Dixon. “We’ve got a lot of resources, and we’re just looking for the right people to give it to. So we want everybody to stay in Mississippi. That’s the goal to be here and stay here”.
The Cohort culminates with Pitch Day to investors in November.
