ANKARA
The World Bank approved Türkiye’s Agrifood Sector project to provide $750 million in financing, according to the Turkish Treasury and Finance Ministry.
The Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Ministry and the Agriculture and Rural Development Agency will implement the project with the secured funding.
The goal is to enhance the competitiveness and integration of agricultural food value chains in Türkiye and boost the productivity and growth capacity of agricultural food firms and producers, while also facilitating their market access.
The World Bank will have provided over $9 billion in long-term, favorable external financing to Türkiye for all sectors in 2026 with this funding.
Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said cooperation with the World Bank on strengthening Türkiye’s production ecosystem will continue.
“Our efforts to secure long-term and favorable financing within our Medium-Term Program continue with a goal to prioritize sustainable growth and social welfare, and our support for agriculture and rural development will be sustained with this recent loan,” he added.
