Google is getting into the space business. Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi discusses what jumps out at him from Alphabet’s (GOOG, GOOGL) Project Suncatcher launch.
Don’t forget about Google. Do not sleep on Google. They said they are going to launch their data centers in space to a small degree.
They work with Planet Labs for the first time October 1st. There you can see, Yahoo Finance covering the story. It’s right there.
This is a big moment for I think for Google, very, very important. Uh I like what Sundar, he laid this out in a LinkedIn post, really explaining what he’s trying to achieve with these data centers in space. But what really caught my attention is what is on the ship uh on the SpaceX booster that will launch uh their technology into space.
It’s TPUs.
If you go back to Google’s earnings call a couple weeks ago, maybe a couple months ago at this point, they are really starting to pull together massive business in TPUs. That’s their version of chips. I believe they’re called Tensor Tensor chips.
Sales there are starting to accrue in a very, very, very big way. Really, huge way. And I don’t think the market really truly appreciates what Google is doing on the chip front.
I like that Google is getting out in the space race. It’s getting its data centers out there. It’s taking the fight to a lot of competitors doing the same thing. And then oh yeah, at the same time is Google’s doing all this stuff,
they’re also rocking YouTube.
I they’re just not putting up data centers in space for the sake of doing it. For the hell of saying, hey, we get to put on another Sundar post.
Like, that’s not what they’re doing. So, I think it’s a big moment for Google. I think their AI efforts are starting to weave into the backbone, the very fabric of YouTube.
Like I mentioned earlier on unleashed, that is allowing them to take massive business away from a Netflix.
Their exposure to Waymo is massive. Waymo is the leader right now in driverless cars by a large country mile. I know you love that photo of the cyber cab that I showed just a few moments ago, but Waymo is the leader. Elon is playing catchup to Alphabet and Waymo in the driverless car front. And that is very, very important. But don’t sleep on Alphabet. Go out and do your homework on this company this weekend. The valuation suggests a lot of things that I’m sitting here talking about to you,
and I’m giving to you for free. You’re welcome are not priced in the stock.
