Dive Brief:
- Weigel’s has partnered with Shep Digital Solutions, a retail media and on-premise digital experience platform, to update its on-site digital presence, Shep announced last week.
- The deal will connect forecourt dispensers, digital window signage and in-store screens at all 90 Weigel’s c-stores to Shep’s platform, giving Weigel’s centralized control over their content and campaigns.
- The move gives Weigel’s a central way to manage campaigns and control how its content is displayed as the retailer continues to build out its retail media network.
Dive Insight:
Weigel’s first announced it was joining the retail media game roughly a year ago. The retailer said at the time that it would offer advertising inventory across its owned media, including its app and website as well as audio, video, streaming and social media, a company spokesperson said at the time.
Shep’s technology will allow Weigel’s to verify where and when campaigns and content run. The retailer will maintain control over its messaging and advertising inventory as it continues to develop in its retail media offering.
“Shep gives our marketing team the ability to bring our food, offers, and brand stories together across those moments, helping customers discover more of what we have to offer,” Nick Triantafellou, director of marketing at Weigel’s, said in the release. “It also supports our broader retail media strategy while keeping Weigel’s in control of the customer experience.”
Weigel’s has made multiple tech upgrades this year. In addition to the Shep partnership, Weigel’s has added Tote AI’s point-of-sale platform to all its stores and worked with PDI Technologies and interactive data provider Blings to add personalized, dynamic messaging to the MyWeigel’s Rewards program.
