Columbia Basin Trust is hosting the Non-profit Advisors Program at Prestige Mountain Resort in Rossland on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The program supports non-profits in the Columbia Basin with organizational development and capacity building through a range of resources including organizational assessments and recommendations, specialized consulting support, information-sharing, skill-building workshops and webinars, and an online reference library.
“Whether you are new to the program or have received previous support, our team is here to help,” read the release. “These services are free and if the advisor thinks more specialized consulting support is needed, this program may also subsidize those services.”
The topics volunteers can sign up for include: recruiting and retaining volunteers, financial management, succession planning, and payroll basics.
The program can connect you with an advisor who will assess your organization and provide recommendations, including whether you might benefit from the support of a consultant.
The Recruitment and Retaining workshop in Rossland will be held at the Prestige and is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
This interactive, in-person workshop offers practical strategies and proven practices to strengthen volunteer programs.
The workshop is ideal for non-profit staff, volunteer coordinators, board members, and community organizers.

Participants will learn how to prepare and interpret key financial statements and use them to build realistic and effective operating budgets.
Attendees will learn how to create, manage, and monitor budgets for overall operations, projects, and grant-funded activities.
The workshop also goes from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Succession Planning workshops helps with the transition of staff and volunteers, and is an important part of every group’s job, especially for the board.
The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon.
