Startup Redding marks 10th year of Startup Games, building businesses in one weekend
Aspiring entrepreneurs in Redding will have a chance to turn an idea into a business in a single weekend as Startup Redding’s Startup Games return for their 10th year. (Shasta EDC)
The “learn-to-launch” event runs September 11-13. Participants will pitch their ideas Friday night, form teams, then spend the weekend building a business plan, testing their idea and preparing a final presentation for local business leaders.
“We form teams around the top voted ones and they literally build the business over the course of a weekend,” said Trisha Funk, Startup Redding director. “So even if someone is not really sure, they don’t really know how to start a business, it is such an amazing process to go through the experience and the education of all the pieces of a puzzle.”
Friday night and Sunday’s final presentations will be held at Wind River Casino. Saturday’s work session will take place at the I-O-O-F Hall in downtown Redding.
Tickets cost $75 and include food, mentor access and a Startup Redding T-shirt. Registration is available at startupredding.com/games.
