[Digital Today reporter Hwang Chi-gyu] JobKorea, an AI and data-based HR tech platform operated by WorkSphere, said on Sunday that job seekers’ interest in remote work has continued steadily, while job ads offering remote work fell after 2022 before returning to growth recently.
The analysis covered 2021 through the third quarter of this year. The results showed that as job seekers closely review working conditions such as work arrangements alongside job roles, job ads offering remote work declined after peaking in 2022 and have been rising again this year.
On JobKorea, postings marked as “remote work available” were highest in 2022. Based on January to September figures, they fell from a year earlier by 22.9 percent in 2023, 35.8 percent in 2024 and 38.0 percent in 2025. This year, they rose 12.7 percent from a year earlier, returning to growth after three consecutive years of declines. But they were 65.5 percent lower than in the same period of 2022, about one-third of that level. Postings with “remote” in the title also fell 71.9 percent over the same period.
The mix of sectors for postings offering remote work has also changed. Among postings offering remote work, the share outside IT and information and communications rose by 20.7 percentage points to 55.8 percent in January to September this year from 35.1 percent in the same period of 2022. Narrowing the scope to postings that explicitly stated “remote” in the title, the non-IT share reached 72.6 percent this year.
Job seekers’ interest in remote work remains high. In JobKorea’s annual integrated search-term rankings, “remote” rose each year from 21st in 2021 to 7th in 2022, 5th in 2023 and 3rd in 2024. The number of searches increased 123.6 percent over the same period. It ranked 6th in 2025 and 8th this year, remaining near the top.
A JobKorea official said, “Job seekers are looking not only at the job itself but also where and how they will work, and are searching for postings that match their conditions. Companies also widen their chances of meeting the talent they want when they clearly state ways of working such as remote work in postings.” The official added, “Based on the extensive hiring and job-seeking data accumulated at WorkSphere, we will continue to advance services for exploring working conditions and checking company information.”
