- In the past week, Gartner reported second-quarter 2026 results that exceeded earnings and revenue expectations and raised its profitability outlook, underpinned by accelerating contract value and stabilizing subscription demand.
- At the same time, Gartner’s own research highlighted that only a minority of organizations have successfully scaled AI, underscoring both the persistence of advisory demand around complex technology adoption and the risk that slower implementation may temper near-term service momentum.
- We’ll now examine how Gartner’s stronger profitability guidance, set against cautious AI scaling trends, reshapes the company’s longer-term investment narrative.

The most relevant recent announcement is Gartner’s stronger 2026 profitability guidance, backed by accelerating contract value and stabilizing subscription demand. Set against survey data showing only 22% of organizations have scaled AI, this combination suggests investors are weighing better near term earnings against questions on how quickly AI advisory demand will translate into sustained growth, particularly if clients lean more on internal capabilities or cheaper external tools.
Yet while profitability is improving, the investigation into potential fiduciary issues raises governance questions that investors should be aware of…

You can copy Bill Ackman and buy Netflix. Knowing why you did is the hard part.
Netflix case is interesting. The scariest competitor is the one that does not need to make money. Amazon can run video at a loss forever because it is really a Prime retention tool with a content budget attached. On the other hand there is Youtube.
Pershing Square hasn’t beaten the S&P over the last five years, though the long-run record is genuinely good. I like Ackman as a person. I enjoy listening to Ackman and that’s about where it ends for me.
