The Golden State Valkyries have achieved a commercial milestone, becoming the first women’s professional sports franchise to exceed USD100 million (AUD143 million) in annual gross revenue.
According to financial data the second-year WNBA expansion franchise hit the nine-figure threshold during its 2026 campaign, backed by sold-out home crowds, premium venue yield, and a sponsorship portfolio exceeding forty corporate brands
The financial surge follows a valuation by CNBC earlier this year that pegged the Valkyries at USD1 billion (AUD1.43 billion), establishing the Bay Area team as the most valuable women’s sports property globally.
The franchise’s record-setting performance is driven by extraordinary demand at Chase Center, where the team sold out all twenty-two regular-season home fixtures and capped season-ticket sales above 12,000 deposits.
On the court, Golden State parlayed strong operational foundations into competitive success, recording a 32-12 regular-season record, the second-best mark in the league, before advancing through the postseason with a first-round victory over the Dallas Wings and a semi-final sweep of the Las Vegas Aces to secure a place in the WNBA Finals.
Reflecting on the organisation’s aggressive growth trajectory and brand strategy, Valkyries team president, Jess Smith, said: “What we know about our fan base in women’s sports, and specifically around the Valkyries, is they want us to be really good stewards.”
“They want us to be powerful and unapologetic,” Smith said.
