Cradlewise, an AI-first consumer health and wellness startup focused on infant and child sleep, has raised $12 million in Series A funding led by 3one4 Capital and Prudent Investment Management.
The startup said the capital will go towards growth, expanding its sales channels, product research and development, and geographic expansion.
Cradlewise was founded in 2019 by Radhika Patil and Bharath Patil, after the duo ran into the challenge of sleepless nights themselves as new parents.
The startup has developed AI enabled cribs that combine sensing, learning, and soothing functions in what it describes as a closed loop system, using data on a baby’s movement, sound, and sleep state to try to predict and intervene before the baby fully wakes up. The startup said this can save parents up to two hours of effort each day.
According to Cradlewise, its technology is backed by patents covering its hardware and sensing systems, and the startup claims it has collected over 75 million hours of sleep data that it uses to continuously improve detection, prediction, and personalisation. It manufactures its cribs at an integrated facility in Pune, which it says can produce, test, and pack thousands of units each month.
“Cradlewise came from our own experience of sleepless nights as parents. We wanted to build something that does more than just inform parents that the baby is awake. The smart crib helps babies sleep better and gives parents a much-needed helping hand. This round allows us to reach more families, expand access, and build products that continue to support the sleep journey as children grow,” said Radhika Patil, who is also the CEO of Cradlewise.
Bharath Patil, Co-founder and CTO, said, “Cradlewise is about sensing, learning, and having an impact. We wish to create tech that does not shout out its presence but solves challenges in a way that we forget about them. Truly well-done tech should disappear into the background. And more importantly, we take pride in building the engine that fuels this innovation out of India.”
With this round, Cradlewise has raised a total of $26 million to date, backed by investors including Sean O’Sullivan Ventures, Footwork VC, Charles River Ventures, 3one4 Capital, and Prudent Investment Management.
The startup said it is working on a broader child sleep roadmap that goes beyond the crib itself, including software led sleep routines, additional child sleep hardware, lower priced entry points, and reusable sensing and electronics modules meant to shorten future product development timelines.
According to the startup, this roadmap is designed to extend its relevance from the 0 to 24 month infant window into later childhood, while staying focused on the same core problem of better sleep and calmer routines for parents.
