Winston-Salem names next chief financial officer
The City of Winston-Salem announces new chief financial officer
The City of Winston-Salem has named its next chief financial officer.
According to the city, Shenandra Usher will lead the City’s Finance Department, where she will oversee financial planning, accounting, debt management, payroll, risk management and financial reporting.
Usher brings more than a decade of experience in local government finance, financial operations, and organizational leadership.
She previously served as assistant chief financial officer for Albemarle County, Virginia.
According to the city, Usher has held financial leadership roles across local government and public sector organizations, including director of accounting for the City of Decatur, Georgia; accountant for the City of Brookhaven, Georgia; and accounting manager for the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia.
With her appointment, Usher becomes the first African American to serve as chief financial officer for the City of Winston-Salem.
Usher will begin her role on Oct. 5.
