United Wholesale Mortgage(UWM) announced Tuesday that it has launched a Mortgage Matchup plugin for ChatGPT that’s designed to connect borrowers with independent mortgage brokers across the country.
The plugin, available through the ChatGPT mobile app and website, allows users to search for mortgage originators in their area, calculate how much home they can afford and access mortgage calculators, a glossary of common mortgage terms and educational content.
“Consumers expect instant access to any and all information, the mortgage industry should be no different,” Sarah DeCiantis, chief marketing officer at UWM, said in a statement. “Launching the Mortgage Matchup ChatGPT plugin is another step towards making the process of finding a mortgage expert easier, faster and more personalized.”
The tool allows users to search for loan originators based on specific expertise and characteristics, including whether they are bilingual, specialize in a particular loan type or have strong client reviews.
Users can prompt ChatGPT by starting a request with “Mortgage Matchup,” which will automatically surface the plugin in the conversation. The first time a user accesses the plugin, ChatGPT will prompt them to connect and provide information about what data may be shared.
Loan originators with a Mortgage Matchup profile will be eligible to appear in the plugin, using the information included on their existing profiles on the Mortgage Matchup website. Profiles can include a photo, contact information, website, social media links and professional biography.
“We are bringing mortgage guidance into a widely used AI platform, helping consumers get the information they need to connect with the right mortgage expert when they’re ready,” DeCiantis said.
