After an attempted data breach at UT San Antonio, students are still scrambling to access important information. Now, university officials say deadlines are being extendedwhile an investigation is underway, with all technology and website access to be restored afterward.
According to a statement fromUTSA, an attempt was made over the weekend to breach UTSA systems. Staff were able to halt the progress of the hack, but it’s having lasting impacts on student services as an investigation unfolds.

“Been down all day. Kept trying to get in just to see if I could start working on course introductory stuff,” one concerned student wrote in a Reddit thread alongside numerous complaints from students unable to register for a parking permit or a meal plan.
While UTSA officials said there’s no indication that any private data was accessed or taken, staff took some systems and services offline in an abundance of caution. This, however, leaves students wondering when they can prepare for classes that start Wednesday, August 19.

To address concerns, UTSA staff said payment deadlines have been extended to August 21 to give students more time. A system has been built to automatically add waitlisted students to a new list, and registration remains open for the fall 2026 schedule once students can access their myUTSA accounts.
Anyone hoping to speak to someone on the phone at UTSA should be wary. Phones are still down but are expected to be up and running again by Monday evening, August 17.
“We understand how important access to these services is as you prepare for the fall semester. These adjustments are intended to give you additional time and flexibility while university technology services are restored,” UTSA officials said in their latest update.
