This is a rare sight and if we can remember correctly, almost all the Intel CPUs were kicked out of top 10 last year.
Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus Finds its Place at 6th Position, While Core i7 14700K Now Ranks 8th in the Top 10 Best Selling CPUs on Amazon
This is a shocker, but yes, it’s finally happening, but it might be a temporary change as well. After dominating the best-selling CPU chart on Amazon, AMD can be seen losing a few spots to Intel. This doesn’t mean that AMD is struggling, but it’s the other way around. If you remember, one of the first times we saw Intel getting kicked out of the top 10 positions was in late 2024.
At that time, all top 10 positions were secured by AMD CPUs that included SKUs from the Ryzen 9000, 7000, and 5000 series. However, today we spotted an interesting change in the rankings. Surprisingly, two Intel processors have entered the top 10 best-selling CPUs list on Amazon US after nearly 1.5 years since we saw an Intel processor in the top 10. While Intel CPUs couldn’t beat the top choices like the Ryzen 9800X3D or Ryzen 5800X3D, it has convincingly beaten some of the most popular Ryzen 9000 and 7000 series CPUs.
The first one is the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, one of the fastest gaming and productivity CPUs from the Arrow Lake Refresh, boasting 24 cores for just over $250. Due to aggressive price drops, the processor has been selling quite well, enabling enthusiasts to build powerful machines that can do both gaming and professional work with ease. The processor used to sit in the top 20 best sellers, but it has now slipped to 6th position.
More surprisingly, the second processor that entered the top 10 is from Intel’s 14th gen Raptor Lake Refresh series. At number 8, we have one of the most successful 20-core CPUs, the Core i7 14700K, beating popular choices such as Ryzen 5800XT and Ryzen 7 7700X. This highlights the current state of the consumer segment, as people are forced to build using DDR4 platforms. Perhaps this is exactly why Intel has decided to come up with Raptor Lake “NEXT” to fulfill the demands.
We see DDR5-based CPUs seeing a decline in popularity. These include CPUs from the Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series that have now been pushed to lower positions, including Ryzen 7 9850X3D, Ryzen 9 9950X, and Ryzen 9 9900X. Older processors like Core i9 14900K and Core i7 14700K are now enjoying better positions than ever.
At the same time, the Ryzen 5000 series is maintaining its dominance in the market since these are the only SKUs consumers would buy for building DDR4-based systems. So, things have changed dramatically in the past few months, but we expect some major fluctuations in the rankings in the coming weeks as well.
