S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Layce Bruns has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, and here’s how she’s done it
“Time <a href="https://bitcomme.com/competent-contact-management-pricey-automations/” title=”Competent Contact Management, Pricey Automations”>management and just applying yourself to your school work, and taking care of what you need to take care of,” said Layce
Time management comes into play for all of the things she does outside of the classroom as well.
“I’m in basketball, volleyball, high school rodeo, and 4H rodeo. And different 4H activities. Like I show sheep and cattle. I did the rodeo growing up, and my mom showed sheep and cattle growing up. So we were just raised into it, me and my siblings,” said Kayce.
“From academics to athletics. They live on a ranch, so she helps her family with that. She’s a great role model and leader, especially for our younger children. Someone to look up to,” said principal Beth Victor.
Layce plans to stay close to home for college, going to Mitchell Tech.
She says it’s been great growing up in the Plankinton School District.
“Everybody knows everybody, and they can just help you out. Just good connections with everyone and relationships. The community always shows up for you and is always supporting you. Throughout sporting events, they always show up. I’m the student council vice president. There’s a lot of fundraising we have to do in the community, and the community is always supportive of it,” said Layce.
“I think Layce will excel no matter what she does after school, because she has that grit, she has resilience. She will succeed in anything she does, and she will be missed walking these hallways,” said Beth
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Layce gets a $250 scholarship from the Central Electric Cooperative, which is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
