Tencent Games Central Tech has made its Gamescom debut as a unified brand, presenting a portfolio of proprietary technologies designed to cover content creation, gameplay experiences, and long-term live operations. Its Gamescom 2026 showcase brings together Motus, GIGA, MagicDawn, Anti-Cheat Expert, GVoice, and WeTest.
The centerpiece is Motus, Tencent Games’ end-to-end AI pipeline for 3D character animation. Built around the company’s proprietary generative animation foundation models, Motus connects several production stages that would traditionally require separate tools, including character rigging, skinning, motion generation, motion refinement, and real-time character interaction.
Motion can be generated from text prompts, videos, or keyframes, while support for multi-character interactions covers combat, cooperative, and social animations. Motus can also analyze character topology and generate a production-ready skeleton within seconds before creating skinning weights for the character’s muscles, clothing, and other components.
Crucially, the technology is not limited to generating animations. Tencent says its refinement tools can automatically identify and correct problems such as jitter, mesh penetration, joint anomalies, and foot sliding. At the other end of the pipeline, audio or text can drive facial expressions, body movement, and interactive responses in real time, potentially supporting intelligent NPCs, digital humans, and virtual presenters.
Motus technical lead and expert researcher Zijiao Zeng discussed the pipeline during the “Breathing Life into Geometry 2.0” session at Gamescom Dev on August 24. Visitors were also able to turn text prompts into 3D animations through an on-site demonstration. According to Tencent, Motus technologies have already been used across Game for Peace, PUBG MOBILE, Delta Force, Honor of Kings, Roco Kingdom, League of Legends, and Teamfight Tactics.
The wider Central Tech lineup extends beyond animation. GIGAuses games and virtual worlds as training environments for general-purpose AI agents, focusing on visual decision-making, language-action alignment, and real-time competitive behavior.MagicDawncombines rendering technology with AI and cloud computing to address performance, image quality, and audio. Tencent highlighted Roco Kingdom as a case study, explaining how global illumination and cross-platform adaptation supported its transformation from a browser title into a 64-square-kilometer open-world game.
Anti-Cheat Expert handles areas including cheat prevention, client hardening, in-game economic risks, and threat intelligence.GVoice provides low-latency voice communication with AI noise reduction, a proprietary codec, and real-time translation, while WeTest Acorn AI Studiouses autonomous agents to play games and identify problems across different genres and platforms.
Tencent’s broader message at Gamescom 2026 is that these technologies are moving beyond isolated demonstrations and becoming reusable parts of real development pipelines. The company is also continuing research into world models and real-time interactive video, although it has not yet provided further details about how those technologies will be used in future games.
