Smart launched an unusual marketing campaign for the #2 urban EV around the world ahead of its global debut scheduled for October 2026. Murals with this tiny two-seater appeared in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, and Melbourne. Soon, large wall paintings of the #2 will come into sight in Berlin and Paris.
It was shared #2’s design aimed at urban mobility, the company wanted to underline its connection to street culture. According to the Smart chief marketing manager, Kang Yi, these mural teasers build anticipation for the return of the brand’s most recognizable model
Four murals of the Smart #2 have already appeared in four cities across the globe. The mural in Shanghai was created by contemporary artist Zhu Bin. The four-member street art collective Parents Parents created the wall painting in Hong Kong. Martin Ron captured the Smart #2 in Buenos Aires. And Georgia Laurie integrated the vehicle into a mural in Melbourne, Australia.
The Melbourne mural gives a lot of information about the mass-produced #2. It adopts blackened pillars and the roof, real door handles, and “cute” headlights. There are two air flows in the front bumper surrounding a rectangular air intake. The car rides on eight-spoke wheels. Two other murals will soon arrive in Berlin and Paris.
Smart officials underlined that the #2 city car was styled by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team. The team’s goal was to forward the character of the #2’s predecessor, the Smart ForTwo. The mass-produced #2 will retain the silhouette of the Concept #2, revealed at the Beijing Auto Show 2026.
The car’s chassis and core technologies come from Geely. The model stands on the Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) and boasts RWD. As a result, the #2 meets all the global safety standards. Another benefit of the car is maneuverability in tight spaces.
It was previously shared that the #2 will become available with a 35.7 kWh battery, a WLTP range target of around 300 km, a 10–80% DC fast-charging time of approximately 20 minutes, and a 6.95 m turning circle. More information about the mass-produced Smart #2 will be disclosed at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. According to China EV DataTracker, Smart delivered 1,797 cars in June 2026 in China, down 38.4% Year-Over-Year.
