Shin Jin-seo has held the top spot in South Korea’s Go rankings for an 82nd consecutive month.
Shin played two games in September at the 49th SG Cup Hankook Ilbo Myungin tournament and won both, adding 8 points for a total of 10,426 to stay at No. 1. His victory over second-ranked Park Jung-hwan in the winners’ final put him on track for a second straight title in the event.
Park went 1-1 for the month, gaining 3 points to reach 9,958. Shin Min-jun picked up one win and added 7 points for 9,951, holding third place. The gap between the two has narrowed to 7 points, intensifying the fight for the No. 2 spot.
Byun Sang-il and Kang Dong-yun held fourth and fifth, while Kim Myung-hoon moved up one place to sixth. Lee Ji-hyun won both of his games to add 20 points and climbed two spots to seventh. Kim Ji-seok stayed at eighth, Ahn Sung-joon slipped three places to ninth, and Han Seung-joo was 10th.
In the women’s rankings, Kim Eun-ji was No. 1 for a second straight month, while Choi Jeong, Sumire Nakamura, Oh Yu-jin and Kim Chae-young held second through fifth with no change.
Heo Seo-hyun and Kim Min-seo swapped positions at sixth and seventh, and Kim Ju-a, Kim Da-young and Cho Seung-a remained eighth through 10th, unchanged from the previous month.
Eom Dong-geon, meanwhile, won all six of his games in September, adding 55 points to rise 15 places to 77th — the largest gain among players ranked in the top 100.
