Robinhood Ventures Fund I has completed approximately $10 million in investments in Cognition, the artificial intelligence software company behind the autonomous coding agent Devin.
The investment adds Cognition to Robinhood Ventures Fund I’s concentrated portfolio of mostly private companies and advances the fund’s strategy of giving public-market investors exposure to technology companies traditionally accessible mainly through private investment vehicles.
Cognition was founded in 2024 and develops Devin, an autonomous software engineering platform designed to plan, write, test, and deploy production code. The company positions the technology as a way for engineering teams to automate repetitive development work while allowing software engineers to spend more time on architecture, system design, strategy, and complex technical problems.
Devin has been deployed at organizations including Goldman Sachs, Citi, Wayfair, Mercedes-Benz, and Nubank. Cognition also recently surpassed $1 billion in annualized revenue run rate, highlighting the rapid growth of its AI software platform.
Robinhood Ventures Fund I said its Cognition investment aligns with its objective of expanding retail investor access to private markets and what it describes as frontier companies operating at the forefront of their respective industries.
The fund, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RVI, began trading on March 6, 2026. It is the first fund launched by Robinhood Ventures.
RVI operates as a closed-end fund and is structured to provide investors with exposure to a concentrated portfolio consisting primarily of private companies. Additional investments are expected to be added to the portfolio over time.
Unlike many traditional private market investment vehicles, RVI does not require investors to meet accredited investor qualifications or commit to an investment minimum. The fund also operates without performance fees and charges a management fee.
The structure reflects Robinhood’s broader strategy of expanding access to investment opportunities that have historically been concentrated among institutional investors, venture capital firms, and wealthy individuals.
Cognition represents one of RVI’s latest investments as the fund builds its private company portfolio around businesses Robinhood Ventures believes have significant long-term growth potential.
“We believe Cognition is changing how software gets built, with Devin becoming an increasingly essential tool for engineering teams everywhere. Cognition is one of the defining companies of the AI-driven software era, and it represents the type of company retail investors should have access to through RVI.”
