Revolve is notifying customers after a breach exposed saved card numbers and expiration dates. State filings list at least 197,072 affected residents across five states.
Revolve Group, Inc., which operates the online fashion retailers Revolve and FWRD, is notifying customers that a <a href="https://bitcomme.com/sutherland-healthcare-solutions-data-breach-exposes-ssns-claims-data/" title="Sutherland Healthcare Solutions Data Breach Exposes SSNs, Claims Data”>data breach involved names, addresses, payment card numbers and expiration dates, according to breach notices filed with state officials.
The company said an unauthorized actor accessed its online shopping platform on Sept. 11. The data involved customers who had saved a payment method to their account.
The National Consumer Unit reviewed publicly available state breach notices to assess the scope of the breach. The filings list 127,200 affected Texas residents, 46,813 in Massachusetts, 17,813 in South Carolina, 3,918 in Iowa, and 1,328 in Vermont. Revolve has not publicly disclosed a nationwide total. Not all states make breach notices available to search.
Customers who receive a notice should review their card statements and promptly report unfamiliar charges to the card issuer. They can also contact the issuer and ask for a replacement card with a new number.
Revolve says customers who have questions about the breach can call 888-517-6458, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding some major U.S. holidays.
What else can you do?
One of the best ways to protect yourself before a data breach happens is to proactively freeze your credit. While a freeze won’t stop unauthorized charges on an exposed card, it can make it harder for someone to open a new credit account in your name using stolen information by restricting access to your credit report. A freeze is free to place and lift, but you must contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion separately.
