Remote Launches Expense Cards Built into EOR
The solution brings employee spending into the infrastructure companies already use to hire and pay their global teams.
Remote, a financial operating system for the global workforce, has launched Remote Expense Cards, bringing employee spending into the infrastructure companies already use to hire and pay their global teams.
Now, companies can issue eligible Remote EOR employees a virtual card, typically ready to use within one business day, to pay for work expenses, instead of using personal funds and waiting for reimbursement. Unlike a standalone card, it is built on the employment data Remote already manages, so finance teams get visibility and control without adding another vendor or reconciling a separate system.
Employing teams across multiple countries should not mean multiple disconnected financial systems. Yet work spending still often sits outside the infrastructure companies use to employ and pay their teams, leaving employees to fund business expenses themselves and finance teams to reconcile the fragments afterward across reimbursement claims, personal cards, and standalone tools with no view of who the person is or where they are employed, and no control at the moment that matters. Remote Expense Cards close that gap, connecting the people doing the work, the rules governing their spending and the resulting expense records.
“Managing travel and expenses is a core part of running a global workforce, yet finance and HR teams often struggle to reconcile payroll and employee spending data,” says Michiel Boere, Chief Financial Officer at Remote. “Remote brings employment, payroll and spending data together into one place. With Remote Expense Cards, employees around the world can pay for things like travel without using their own money, while teams set controls at the individual level and see every transaction alongside the employment data.”
Stop reimbursing, start issuing
Remote Expense Cards shift expense management from “pay → approve → reimburse” to “control → pay → review → record.” Admins define who receives a card, what can be purchased, and how much can be spent. Eligible EOR employees then spend within those controls, and completed card payments are captured in Remote Expenses. Every card transaction is recorded in Remote automatically; employees attach a receipt in the Remote app to finalize it as an expense.
Key features of Remote Expense Cards include:
- Built on employment data: Remote Expense Cards use employment context Remote already manages, including entity, role, location, and tax status, so every card transaction is recorded against the right employee and entity with no separate system to reconcile
- Control before spend: Policies are applied at the moment of purchase, not reviewed after the fact
- No out-of-pocket spending for card purchases: Eligible EOR employees can use a company-issued expense card instead of personal funds
- No reimbursement cycle for card spend: Employees do not pay first, submit later, and wait for payroll
- Native to Remote: Spend is managed inside the same platform companies use for EOR
- No platform fee: Remote Expense Cards have a $0 platform fee and no per-card charge for <a href="https://bitcomme.com/the-ai-customer-service-boom-is-hiding-a-cost-crisis-3/” title=”The AI customer service boom is hiding a cost crisis”>customers
Reimbursement remains available inside Remote Expenses for spend that is better handled after the fact. Remote Expense Cards add a control-before option, which can help reduce manual work for finance and out-of-pocket spending for employees.
Remote Expense Cards are a module of Remote EOR, available to eligible Remote EOR customers in supported countries. They are not a standalone corporate-card platform, lending product, employee perk, compensation benefit, or personal payment method.
