A sizeable donation from Kathy and Peter Lacey will support the MicroSociety program at Aspen Heights Elementary School in memory of late Red Deer businessman and entrepreneur Jack Donald.
The $30,000 donation will help students at the Red Deer school develop entrepreneurial skills, explore business and learn about contributing to their community through hands-on experiences.
Honouring dad’s legacy
Donald, Kathy’s father, was a longtime Red Deer businessman who believed in hard work, business education and giving back to the community.
Kathy said supporting MicroSociety was a natural way to honour her father’s legacy and the values he instilled in his family.
“My dad was a businessman who worked hard and was very successful,” said Kathy, as she addressed the students at Aspen Heights during their MicroSociety Swearing in Assembly.
“He believed that learning the basics of business was essential and that every young person should have the chance to be an entrepreneur if they wanted to.”
