Ravical, an AI startup developing
technology for accounting and tax firms, has raised $17 million in seed funding
to support its product development and international expansion. The round was
led by MMC Ventures, with participation from existing investors Lakestar and
Pitchdrive, alongside new investor Shapers. The investment brings the company’s
total funding to $25 million.
Founded in 2025 by Joris Van Der Gucht (CEO), Ken Bastiaensen (CTO) and Benjamin Vandermarliere (CPO), Ravical develops an AI-powered platform
designed to help accounting and tax firms manage their operations and make
better use of their internal expertise. Its technology enables firms to
standardise workflows by turning the knowledge and practices of experienced
professionals into shared processes that can be applied across their client
base.
The company aims to address
challenges facing the accounting industry, where growing demand for accounting
and advisory services is accompanied by difficulties in recruiting and
retaining skilled professionals. At the same time, the increasing availability
of AI tools is changing how clients access financial information and advice.
According to research conducted by
Ravical, 70 per cent of UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) now act on
AI-generated advice without consulting their accountants. This shift is
creating additional pressure on accounting firms to adapt their services and
demonstrate the value of their expertise.
Ravical’s platform is designed to
help firms use AI consistently across their operations rather than relying on
individual employees adopting separate tools. By making internal expertise
accessible across teams, the company aims to support more efficient workflows,
improve client service and help firms identify additional business
opportunities within their existing client base.
Joris Van Der Gucht, co-founder
and CEO of Ravical, highlighted the importance of adopting AI at an
organisational level rather than relying on individual employees to use
separate tools:
When every employee uses their own assistant in their
own way, the individual gets better, but the firm doesn’t. We turn how a firm’s
best people work into a shared way of working that AI carries out across every
client.
More than 100 accounting firms across Europe currently
use Ravical’s platform. The new funding will support further product
development, team expansion and growth in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and
Germany. The company also plans to expand into additional European markets and
enter the US.
