Ontario Chamber Welcomes Productivity Mega Deduction as a Major Step to Unlock Investment
<strong>(TORONTO, ON – September 15, 2026) – Daniel Tisch, President and CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC), issued the following statement in response to the federal government’s announcement of a new Productivity Mega Deduction:
“While there is no immediate cure for uncertainty, the best treatment is reducing investment cost and risk. Today’s announcement is a big step to make Canada a highly attractive place to invest, build and grow.
“Making immediate investment deductions permanent and expanding them will lower the cost of investing in equipment, technology and other productivity-enhancing assets, giving businesses more confidence and delivering on a key recommendation from Ontario’s business community.
“Now governments need to make it easier for businesses to use these incentives. A simpler, more coordinated tax system would reduce complexity, give businesses greater certainty and help unlock more investment.
“Canada has the tools to compete. The Ontario Chamber of Commerce and our members are ready to work with governments to turn those tools into stronger productivity, investment and long-term growth.”
