The Department of Accounting successfully organized “Numbers, Knowledge & Excellence: Bringing Together the Finest Minds in Financial Accounting,” a Financial Accounting Quiz Competition for freshman students on 19th August 2026 (Wednesday). The event was designed to promote academic excellence while strengthening students’ analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities in the field of accounting. The competition brought together enthusiastic students from all freshman sections, creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating academic environment within the department.
Participants were selected based on their outstanding performance in the mid-term examinations. A total of 42 students representing seven sections took part in the competition. Throughout the contest, the participants demonstrated strong accounting knowledge, enthusiasm, confidence, and a commendable competitive spirit.
The prize-giving ceremony was held on 24th August 2026 (Monday) in the presence of distinguished faculty members and academic leaders of the Faculty of Business Administration. The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman Khan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Accounting, who appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of arranging academic competitions on a regular basis. He highlighted that such activities contribute significantly to creating a motivating learning environment while developing students’ confidence, teamwork, intellectual curiosity, and professional competence.
In the competition, Md. Fahim Rahman Mahin emerged as the Champion, while Md. Mahim Hasan secured the position of 1st Runner-up and Fariha Jannat Fahi became the 2nd Runner-up. Yousra-Binte-Masud and Jahratun Enaz secured the 4th and 5th positions, respectively, in recognition of their excellent performances.
During the prize-giving ceremony, Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director (MBA Program) and Dr. Kamrul Hasan, distributed crests among the winners and congratulated them for their outstanding achievements. They also appreciated all the participants for their active involvement, dedication, and enthusiasm throughout the competition.
Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers, faculty members, and participating students for their valuable contributions to the success of the event. He congratulated the winners and encouraged all students to remain actively engaged in academic and co-curricular activities as part of their overall educational and professional development.
The event was organized by Saeeda Tajrian, Lecturer; Sazia Afrin, Assistant Professor; and Siam Mohammad, Lecturer, Department of Accounting.
The competition provided the freshman students with a memorable and inspiring academic experience at the early stage of their university journey. Beyond recognizing excellence in Financial Accounting, the event encouraged healthy competition, active learning, and greater engagement with academic activities. By providing students with opportunities to enhance their knowledge, critical-thinking abilities, problem-solving skills, and confidence through an engaging learning environment, the initiative contributed to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. The event reflects the Department of Accounting’s commitment to promoting inclusive, engaging, and quality learning experiences that support students’ academic and professional development. The department looks forward to organizing more such initiatives to foster academic excellence, creativity, confidence, and lifelong learning among its students.
