Nā Leo TV invites Hawaiʻi Island small businesses and nonprofit organizations to participate in “Social Media? Like, Why?,” a free, four-part program designed to help organizations use social media with greater purpose and strategy.
Participants will explore their organization’s mo‘olelo, identify the audiences they want to reach, learn practical approaches to creating engaging content and develop a social media campaign tied to their goals.
The workshops will be led by local creatives and social media professionals Makana Waikiki of ForTheMo‘o and Jeremy Kalima of Prime Footage and Nā Leo’s social media manager. They will bring experience in storytelling, content creation, branding and digital engagement to help participating organizations develop strategies that are effective and realistic to maintain.
Two separate cohorts will be offered.
The small business cohort begins Aug. 19, with the nonprofit cohort beginning Oct. 7. Each includes group sessions, a one-on-one strategy consultation tailored to each organization and a final hō‘ike, during which teams will share what they created and learned.
“Social media can be an incredibly powerful tool, but only when we understand why we’re using it and who we’re trying to reach,” said Nā Leo TV President and Chief Executive Officer Ashley Kierkiewicz in a release. “We want participants to move beyond posting just to post and leave with a clearer story, a stronger strategy and something they can put into action.”
At least two people from each participating organization must commit to the full program, including someone who manages or contributes to its social media. Space is limited to allow for hands-on learning and individualized support.
“Social Media? Like, Why?” is part of the 2026 NLTV Creative Media Workshop Series, which provides practical training in storytelling, media production, design, digital marketing and other creative disciplines.
