LS Group held its fifth LS Future Day on the 18th at LS Tower in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Under the theme “AI into Business Impact,” the event drew more than 500 attendees including Chairman Koo Ja-eun and CEOs of group affiliates. Koo emphasized the need to dramatically boost productivity in offices and manufacturing sites while embedding AI into products and services to deliver tangible customer value. Nineteen projects across new business, technology, and innovation were presented, with presenters using AI coding to build prototypes. Since 2022, LS Group has generated more than 500 ideas, and LS Electric’s integrated solar power service platform has already reached commercial launch.
Key Elements
LS Group is accelerating its push to translate AI technology into concrete business results. At the fifth LS Future Day held on the 18th at LS Tower in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, Chairman Koo Ja-eun called for sweeping productivity innovation across offices and manufacturing sites.
The event was held under the theme “AI into Business Impact.” More than 500 executives and employees attended, including Chairman Koo, as well as CEOs, COOs, CTOs, and CDOs from the holding company and each affiliate.
In his opening remarks, Koo said, “We live in an era where yesterday’s science fiction becomes today’s reality, and today’s new technology becomes tomorrow’s ordinary technology. LS must not fear the pace of change—we must be the first to embrace it.”
He added, “We must dramatically raise productivity in our offices and manufacturing sites, and infuse AI into our products and services to create new value that customers can actually feel.”
In the results-sharing segment, 19 projects across new business, technology, and innovation were presented. Notable examples included an “AI-based cable manufacturing meister” and a “high-reliability power protection platform for AI data centers.” This year, presenters notably used AI coding to turn ideas into minimum viable products (MVPs) with core functionality, and also produced videos featuring customer experience scenarios using AI.
Employees selected for outstanding projects were granted “LS Futurist” status. They will have the opportunity to visit industrial cities in China next year, benchmark local companies, and examine the latest technology trends.
In the afternoon, the LS Future Forum was held to discuss ways to apply AI in business. Specialized sessions covered leadership, business strategy, and financial strategy, along with a plenary session on “The Future of Manufacturing in the Physical AI Era.” Speakers included PVP CEO Yoon Song-yee, Seoul National University Professor Yoon Sung-ro, BCG Partner Kim Jang-hyun, and Sungkyunkwan University Professor Kwon Seok-joon, who shared insights on AI-era talent development, industrial application strategies, and financial operations innovation.
LS Future Day is a group-wide innovation-sharing event that began in 2022 with Chairman Koo Ja-eun’s inauguration. It has become a venue for sharing new business ideas, R&D outcomes, and work-process innovations among affiliates.
Commercialization Gains Traction
Through Future Day, LS Group has generated more than 500 ideas to date in batteries, next-generation power solutions, and AI. Some of these have already translated into actual business results.
LS Electric’s “integrated solar power service platform” is a prime example of an idea that led to an actual product and service launch. Seven additional projects, including LS Mtron’s compact tractor tailored for the North American market, are currently undergoing commercialization procedures.
This year’s event focused on applying the technology and innovation capabilities accumulated so far to real business operations. The core objectives are boosting productivity and profitability while creating customer value.
LS Group plans to expand the business application of AI based on the innovative ideas and technology insights gained from Future Day. The group intends to share and disseminate best practices at the group level to enhance synergies among affiliates.
Accelerating AI Transformation
The event underscores how major South Korean conglomerates are moving beyond mere technology exploration to using AI as a tool for generating actual business outcomes. It is particularly noteworthy that a manufacturing-based group is expanding AI adoption not only in offices but also on production floors.
Chairman Koo’s reference to both “offices and manufacturing sites” reflects the recognition that AI transformation must go beyond back-office efficiency gains and extend to strengthening core manufacturing competitiveness. The approach of using AI coding to build prototypes accelerates the journey from idea generation to validation, and is expected to influence the group’s innovation processes going forward.
