A Saturday night shooting near Little Rock’s River Market District is under investigation after police say two people exchanged gunfire following an altercation.
Little Rock police officers responded to the area of Scott and Markham Streets around 8:46 p.m. Saturday, September 19.
According to preliminary information, the incident began with an altercation involving juveniles and adults. The situation escalated, and multiple shots were fired near the intersection.
One person was struck by gunfire and taken to a local hospital. Police say the victim is currently listed in stable condition.
Detectives are now working to piece together exactly what led up to the shooting. Investigators are collecting evidence, reviewing available surveillance and other video footage, and interviewing witnesses.
The shooting comes as a city-wide curfew remains in effect. Police are reminding parents and guardians to know where their children are and to make sure they are following all curfew requirements.
