With more than 25 years of sales experience and longstanding ties to the River Parishes, Lisa Klein is looking forward to helping local businesses connect with the community in her new role as marketing and promotions account executive for L’Observateur.
Although she joined the newspaper just over a month ago, Klein said the opportunity to return to the River Parishes was one she couldn’t pass up.
“I spent four years there as a market manager and really made some tremendous friends and business associates,” Klein said. “It’s nice to be back.”
Much of Kleins career has been in the telecommunications industry, where she worked with companies embracing new technology to improve efficiency and customer service. She said that experience has prepared her for today’s advertising landscape where businesses benefit from a combination of traditional print and digital marketing.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with really dynamic companies that embrace technology to help improve efficiency and enhance customer experience,” Klein said. “As we know, in life, technology changes. It’s inevitable. And it’s fun to be able to have a broader range with all different types of products and services that we can provide advertisers.
Klein believes community newspapers provide value because they offer both print and digital platforms while keeping the spotlight on local businesses and organizations.
“When you combine print advertising with digital advertising, it gives you the best of both worlds,” she said. “The majority of it is you want to buy local.”
She said one of the things that drew her to L’Observateur was its commitment to local news.
“The newspaper focuses on what’s important in the River Parishes,” Klein said. “People want to read about their kids’ schools, sporting events and what’s happening in their own
In her role, Klein works with businesses to develop advertising campaigns and promotions through a variety of special publications and projects throughout the year, including football posters, magazines and other community-focused features.
As she settles into the position, Klein said her goals are to help grow the readership while expanding opportunities for local businesses. She is also becoming involved with local business networking groups and the River Region Chamber of Commerce.
Klein encourages local business owners to reach out to learn more about the newspaper’s advertising and promotional opportunities.
“If there’s anything they would like to discuss, I’m more than happy to hear from them,” she said.
