Texas (KBTX) – Jerry R. Strawser has been named the interim provost and executive vice president of Texas A&M University starting Sept. 1, officials announced Thursday morning
The transition comes as current Provost Alan Sams stepped down to return to a faculty role in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents met Thursday, Aug. 27, to approve the placement.
Strawser, an accounting professor who holds the KPMG Chair in the James Benjamin Department of Accounting at Mays Business School, previously served as the university’s interim executive vice president and provost from June 2007 to August 2008.
He also has extensive administrative experience at Texas A&M, having previously served as the dean of Mays Business School and the university’s vice president for finance and administration and chief <a href="https://bitcomme.com/bulloch-county-schools-earns-state-award-for-financial-management/” title=”Bulloch County Schools earns state award for financial management”>financial officer.
A Texas A&M former student, Strawser earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in accounting from the institution.
He will lead academic operations while a national search for a permanent provost is conducted.
