Swiss AI startup Jaipur Robotics has raised around Rs 47.2 crore (€4.3 million) in seed funding to expand its technology for waste-to-energy and other industrial plants.
The funding round was led by EquityPitcher Ventures and High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF).
Jaipur Robotics, founded in 2024 by Ermes Zamboni and Nikhil Prakash, is headquartered at Technopole Ticino in Manno, near Lugano, Switzerland.
The startup develops computer vision and AI systems designed to monitor waste inside industrial facilities and provide operators with information intended to improve safety, combustion and automation.
Its initial focus is on waste-to-energy plants, where non-recyclable waste is typically stored in large bunkers before cranes move it into furnaces.
Waste piles can contain hazardous or oversized objects, including gas cylinders, concrete blocks and metal components, which can damage equipment or contribute to unplanned shutdowns.
Jaipur Robotics uses industrial cameras and sensors to monitor the waste and identify potentially problematic materials. Its software can track the location of objects so operators can remove them before they reach a furnace.
The technology can also analyse the composition and calorific value of waste, which the startup said can help operators mix materials more effectively and maintain more stable combustion.
Jaipur Robotics said its AI systems draw on a dataset containing more than 50 million labelled images from European waste-to-energy operations.
According to the startup, its systems analyse more than five million tonnes of waste each year and can detect hazardous materials with 99% accuracy.
It also said deployments have resulted in reductions of more than 80% in unplanned shutdowns at individual plants.
Jaipur Robotics is now working to extend its technology beyond waste detection towards greater automation of crane operations.
The system can map waste piles and assess the location and volume of different materials, with the aim of helping determine what should be removed, mixed or sent to a furnace.
Rather than replacing existing cranes, the startup is developing software intended to work with equipment already installed at waste-to-energy plants.
Zamboni has described the company’s longer-term goal as developing a broader operating system for industrial facilities.
“We envision a future where data from waste fully drives safety and automation.This round enables us to revolutionise entire plant operations,” he said.
The new funding will be used to expand into additional regions and further develop its products.
It is also increasing its workforce across AI, engineering and commercial roles. According to HTGF, Jaipur Robotics currently has a team of about 40 people and two research and development centres in Switzerland and Asia.
Europe remains the company’s main commercial market, but India is among the countries it is considering for further expansion.
The startup sees automation as one way of reducing reliance on manual crane operation, allowing workers to supervise automated systems rather than continuously controlling cranes themselves.
Jaipur Robotics is also seeking to broaden the use of its computer vision and AI technology beyond waste-to-energy. Its stated target industries include cement and biomass plants.
The latest investment follows an $800,000 pre-seed funding round announced by Jaipur Robotics in March 2025. The startup subsequently secured CHF150,000 from Swiss startup funding programme Venture Kick in July 2025.
