According to the financial sector on the 3rd, Yagiram Savings Bank posted an apology under the name of its CEO on its website the day before and disclosed the leakage of personal information.
“The bank confirmed the leakage of unidentified hackers’ access and personal information on a server containing customers’ personal information on September 30, 2026,” Yiram Savings Bank said.
The leaked personal information items include customer name, date of birth, and contact information. The spill is estimated to be about 40,000 people, and the exact number of victims is currently being confirmed.
The bank explained that emergency security measures were implemented, such as suspending related services and blocking external Internet Protocol (IP) immediately after recognizing the leakage of personal information. Security monitoring has also been stepped up to prevent further damage, and it said it completed reporting to authorities within 24 hours of recognizing the accident.
The bank said, “We will check the necessary damage to the inflow through the customer center and provide support for related relief procedures.”
Earlier, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based hacking attack targeting Korea’s top five commercial banks caused customer information to be leaked from Shinhan Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, and Hana Bank.
