BOISE, Idaho —Idaho is taking action to protect state government websites from a serious and global cybersecurity threat.
The Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) said in a post on its website teams have been monitoring this situation since the initial release of information and have already taken targeted steps to identify and secure potentially affected systems.
According to ITS the pace of new information and required actions may shift between rapid developments and slower, sustained efforts. Throughout this evolving situation, our top priority remains the protection of state systems and the continuity of essential public services. We are currently focusing on defending and strengthening state resources while applying updates and security protections where they are needed most.
The agency says they are prioritizing:
1. Strengthening the security of systems that connect directly to the internet, including firewalls and other publicly accessible technology.
2. Protecting and updating public-facing websites and online services, with priority given to those that support public safety and essential government functions.
ITS says the State is closely coordinating with federal and local government partners to share intelligence, align protective actions, and guide a unified approach to this global cybersecurity issue.

Idaho Fish and Fame has already temporarily replaced its main website with a simplified version as a precaution.
Officials won’t say which other websites or services may be affected, citing security concerns.
