And the hype for GTA 6 continues, and mostly its upcoming Extended Look premiere on Netflix planned for August 27, 2026, will be a huge hit. The fans would now be rushing to get a Netflix subscription in order to cross check the validity of these leaks. This can certainly be called an unofficial promotional activity for GTA 6, and its nothing new, as the game was always known for self-promoting itself in the market.

First GTA 6 leaks appeared in September 2022, when a hacker released dozens of images and video clips from the then-unannounced GTA 6. But that time GTA 6 was under development, and now it is just few months away from its release. Also, Rockstar Games has confirmed an Extended Look premiere for the game on Netflix on August 27, 2026, and they have also revealed that they will stick to their prior plans despite the ongoing GTA 6 leaks. The leaks just reveal the male protagonist of the game, Jason, while he is driving a car or exhibiting some combat moves. But some the leaks also reveal deeper gameplay techniques, and this makes some of the fans believe that the leaker has some kind of GTA 6 build in his hands.
These new GTA 6 leaks might sound exciting to some of the members of the GTA 6 community but they are really demotivating for the developers who have put their heart and soul into the development of the game. The company called developers back to the office five days a week and put an end to remote work, preventing the Grand Theft Auto VI team from using their tools or accessing builds while not at their desks.”The developers are really frustrated, as after following such stringent measures also, the game has received another set of leaks. Rockstar has been trying to lift up the morale of the employees and one of their top executives has sent an email to employees denouncing the leaker and promising that the incident wouldn’t detract from the excellent work they have done. But the sad part here is that Rockstar Games has still not been able to track and stop the leaker.
Rockstar Faces Community Backlash for GTA 6 Marketing Delay
These new GTA 6 leaks are a hot topic for discussion on all the social media channels and gaming chat forums, and in one of the Gaming subreddit forums, the community is backlashing Rockstar Games for the delay in starting marketing for the game. A fan has posted “Not to blame Rockstar for getting hacked, but our first impressions for GTA 6 has been ruined because they chose to wait this long to show any gameplay. Their awful marketing strategy has backfired massively”.The community believes that Rockstar should have started GTA 6 marketing earlier than August 27, and this would have not ruined their experience about the first gameplay impressions of the game.
Some other fans agree to the post and another fan has posted on the same subreddit “the best opinion i’ve seen so far towards these recent events”.GTA 6 marketing was supposed to start by the end of June and the fans were looking forward to GTA 6 trailer 3 release with the launch of GTA 6 pre orders. But the fans were disappointed as the pre orders went live without the trailer 3 launch, and what added more to the disappointment was the digital-only availability of the pre orders. But the marketing still didn’t start and most of the fans had lost all hopes on getting trailer 3 really soon.
GTA 6 Extended Look premiere on August 27, 2026, is also one month away from its pre orders launch, and with the new leaks, the fans are wondering why Rockstar delayed GTA 6 marketing to such an extent. Rockstar Games follows a strategy of maintaining hype for their upcoming games by maintaining silence for a long time, but with GTA 6 the silence was frustrating for the fans. The fans are now scared that GTA 6 Extended Look might get delayed because of these new leaks. A fan has posted “Will get pushed back another month – because of LeAks”.But right now, Rockstar Games has confirmed that the date for GTA 6 Extended Look premiere will not be pushed beyond August 27, because of the leaks.
Rockstar Games had released 9 primary official pre-release trailers for GTA 5, alongside subsequent platform launches and re-release trailers. For Red Dead Redemption 2 also, Rockstar Games released 6 main pre-release promotional videos (consisting of 3 story trailers and 2 gameplay videos, plus the official launch trailer), alongside subsequent PC and online trailers. But with GTA 6, Rockstar Games is still stuck with two trailers, few screenshots and pre orders launch. The fans want to know, why GTA 6 marketing was delayed?
Right now, even Rockstar Games is not sure, why the leaks happened, but they will continue to face fan backlash for delaying GTA 6 marketing. A game like GTA 6 deserved to be revealed in a better way, and Rockstar Games could have made it a better experience for the fans with an earlier official reveal on the game. Any thoughts on this?
