Chainlink just landed a major connection to the global banking network Swift, and its price surged then stalled. Whether that partnership signals a genuine breakout or just another fleeting headline could determine if LINK climbs 55% or craters below $12…

In its Chainlink price prediction, Grok forecasts thatChainlink(CRYPTO:LINK) could reach $16.40 by December 31, 2026. This prediction is influenced by Chainlink’s new CCIP 2.0 upgrade and its new connection to Swift, which is a major global bank messaging network.
Grok also anticipates that LINK may peak at $21.80 in November and touch a low of $11.90 at some point before year-end. Essentially, this suggests that while Chainlink might see significant gains, it could also lose a fair amount of its profit.
As of October 3, Chainlink is trading around $14, up 28% from October 1 and 80% over 90 days. This raises the question: will the SWIFT connection alter Chainlink’s trajectory, or is Grok merely attributing the recovery to a noteworthy banking headline?(FLAG: “begs the question” misused for “raises”; colon in body copy)
Chainlink Connected Banks to SWIFT’s Blockchain Ledger on September 28
On September 28, Chainlink announced that its Runtime Environment allows banks to connect to SWIFT’s blockchain ledger, a shared record system used by various banks. The banks maintain their own keys—credentials necessary for payments—ensuring they do not relinquish control of their funds to either Chainlink or SWIFT.
Currently, 17 financial institutions are testingtokenized deposits, which represent standard bank deposits as digital tokens. Since SWIFT connects over 11,500 institutions worldwide, this could have broad implications. Although Grok highlighted Standard Chartered among the pilot institutions, Chainlink’s announcement did not specify any participating banks.
Chainlink’s CCIP facilitates communication and transactions between different blockchains and traditional banking systems. Grok notes that CCIP 2.0 introduced additional verifiers run by the institutions and an Automated Compliance Engine that ensures adherence to regulations. These updates coincided with an18% increase in LINK’s valuein 2026, whileBitcoin(CRYPTO:BTC) declined.
The Swift News Lifted Chainlink for a Day, Then the Gain Faded
Grok reported that when the Swift news broke, LINK’s price jumped to around $15.50 to $15.80 but quickly stabilized near $14.40. Since then, the price has slipped back to about $14, suggesting the news has not produced a sustained upward trend. Grok attributes only about 30% of Chainlink’s 2026 rise to the Swift and CCIP news, with the remainder likely linked to consistent institutional buying.
Grok also notes that large holders—often referred to as “whales”—acquired 2.5 million LINK tokens, valued at around $35 million, in the ten days leading up to the Swift announcement. Additionally, the Chainlink Reserve program bought about 374,000 LINK, worth roughly $5 million in September. While the blockchain can verify this information, it remains Grok’s interpretation.
Grok also points out a$200 projection by Standard Charteredfor LINK by 2030 but emphasizes that this is more of a long-term institutional outlook than a specific year-end target.
Grok Sees $16 and $17.70 as the Hurdles Before Chainlink’s November High
Grok identifies two critical resistance levels that could impede Chainlink’s price movement. About 16.9 million LINK, worth about $270 million, traded around $16, while about 22.7 million LINK, valued at roughly $400 million, traded near $17.70.
In Grok’s scenario, a successful push above both levels in November could lead to that $21.80 peak, although a drop in Bitcoin’s price from $84,621 to the low $70,000s could drive LINK down to Grok’s expected low of $11.90.
According to Grok, Chainlink has about a 32% chance of hitting $20—about 44% higher than its current value—by year-end. In comparison,XRP(CRYPTO:XRP), currently priced at $1.48, has a 38% chance of reaching $2, roughly 35% above its current price. Grok assesses the likelihood ofChainlink reaching $20 before XRPreaches $2 at around 28%.
Despite recent gains, LINK is still down 36% from 12 months ago, meaning the rally has only partially recouped steep losses.
Does the Swift Connection Change the Chainlink Price Prediction for 2026?
So far, the Swift connection has not significantly altered Grok’s 2026 prediction for Chainlink. The initial spike in LINK’s price after the announcement has faded, and with LINK still down 36% from the previous year, one could argue it’s still behaving like a recovery coin closely tied to Bitcoin’s movements.
The next steps for LINK holders involve waiting for the 17 bank pilots to transition to live payments, as Grok mentioned, without a specific timeline. If LINK closes above $16 (about 15% higher) and then surpasses $17.70 before November 30, Grok’s high estimate for November becomes feasible. Conversely, if Bitcoindips into the low $70,000s, Grok’s $11.90 low becomes more likely.
