Alisha King was then sentenced to 10 to 15 years on aggravated theft, telecommunications fraud and forger charges (Warren County Jail)
WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) — A Trenton woman has been sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than $2 million from two franchisees of a Middletown-based outdoor lighting company, prosecutors said.
Alisha King pleaded guilty to aggravated theft, telecommunications fraud and forgery
Prosecutors said King used forged checks and unauthorized business credit card transactions to take $2,025,776.96.
In 2023, King wrote checks to herself totaling more than $92,000, prosecutors said. She also allegedly used business credit cards to make personal purchases through PayPal, Venmo and Amazon, while using the franchisees’ checking accounts to pay the credit card balances.
Fornshell said the purchases included concert tickets, beauty products, a Louis Vuitton bag, Air Jordan clothing and shoes, an electric guitar and an Apple Watch.
The investigation began after another employee discovered a business check made out to King, prosecutors said.
King was ordered to pay restitution.
“This is the most sizeable internal theft case that our office has prosecuted since I became Warren County prosecutor,” Fornshell said. “Although King was ordered to pay restitution, given the dollars involved, King could work the rest of her life and not make a dent in what she stole from these victims.”
