Analyst: Generative AI data centers one of fastest-growing markets
Japanese electronics manufacturers are acquiring data-center-related firms. An analyst points out that the global data center market is expanding rapidly, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence.
Mizuho Bank senior analyst Fujimoto Tomoki noted that the market is one of the fastest-growing sectors on the back of the widespread prevalence of generative AI.
Fujimoto stressed the need for Japanese firms to deepen ties with what are called “hyperscalers” and major chip companies.
The analyst argued that success hinges on whether Japanese companies are able to offer solution-oriented proposals. He expects companies providing peripheral services — such as the monitoring and maintenance of data centers — to build stronger partnerships with these key players.
The analyst noted that despite their strong technological capabilities, many Japanese firms still need to work on improving their ability to provide solutions.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications expects the global data center market to grow from 2026 to 2030 by about 28 percent, reaching 739.1 billion dollars.
