Just a few days ago, Miami Beach gave the green light to a large-scale advertising campaign for GTA 6. By a narrow majority, the city commission approved plans to allow advertising signs and other promotional material on public property and along the beachfront starting October 15. The proposal had previously drawn criticism from local politicians and law enforcement officials, who questioned whether the city should be promoting a franchise in which crime is a central theme. Despite the pushback, however, the campaign now appears to be moving ahead.
A photo posted on Reddit shows what appear to be several advertising panels laid out before installation. Once assembled, they will most likely spell out “Welcome to VI.” As Dexerto reports, the photo was allegedly taken behind the Kaseya Center in Miami, home of the Miami Heat. According to the report, the panels are expected to be installed on the roof of the arena. The location would certainly fit the campaign. In Grand Theft Auto VI, the Kaseya Center appears to have its own fictional counterpart in the form of the Sahara Arena.
The image has mainly sparked jokes in the Reddit comments. Users have rearranged the visible letters into phrases such as “Oclem me to VI,” jokingly speculated about hidden clues for the next trailer and already announced the inevitable wave of overly detailed analysis videos. Hardly anyone, however, seems to question the image’s authenticity or its connection to GTA 6(available for pre-order on Amazon). The familiar color palette and prominent “VI” are fairly strong clues. The first promotional materials were already expected to appear this week, and this is likely only the beginning. The more interesting question now is what other GTA 6 imagery will start appearing across Miami Beach in the coming weeks.
