Bacon County Health Services (BCHS), a Georgia-based hospital and medical system, has reported a data breach that may have involved sensitive information.
According to a notice posted to its website, Bacon County Health Services became aware of unusual activity within its internal network on July 27, 2026. After an investigation with cybersecurity specialists, the healthcare system determined that an unknown actor accessed its network between July 10 and July 27; during this time, files were copied and potentially viewed.
Although Bacon County Health Services is still reviewing the potentially impacted data, the notice states that the BCHS data breach may have involved personal and protected health information. Once the data review is complete, Bacon County Health Services will send notices to individuals whose information is believed to be contained within the affected files.
The Bacon County Health Services data breach was also reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on September 15, 2026.
