Backbase, an Amsterdam-based provider of banking software, has launched Delivery Factory, an AI-powered platform designed to accelerate software development by pairing banking delivery teams with specialist AI agents throughout the development lifecycle.
The company said teams using the platform across more than 10 implementations over the past year completed work at twice the pace of conventional teams. According to Backbase, delivery was also 30% faster than teams using general-purpose AI coding assistants.
Backbase attributes the difference to how Delivery Factory establishes project context. Rather than working primarily from existing code, the platform draws on approved requirements, architecture specifications, scoping documents and meeting notes, combining them with Backbase’s product expertise. This creates a shared foundation for staff and AI agents across design, planning, development and review, reducing the need to repeat requirements at each stage.
Across the same implementations, Backbase reported an 80% reduction in effort spent on requirements and specifications, a 40% decrease in coding and review effort, and a 60% increase in testing and automation coverage. These figures were supplied by the company and relate to its reported implementations.
Delivery Factory assigns dedicated AI agents to different roles within the software development process. Its Business Analyst Agent converts project information into specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria for Jira, while the Solution Architect Agent helps assess design options, identify reusable services and prepare architecture proposals for review.
Backend, Mobile and Web Agents develop implementation plans based on project requirements and the bank’s version of Backbase’s software. Engineers then use their preferred coding tools to execute approved plans and verify code changes before moving forward. Delivery leads retain responsibility for managing scope, decisions and schedules.
The platform is designed to keep people involved throughout the process, with work conducted through banks’ own repositories, development environments and pipelines.
Backbase is also introducing two agents aimed at supporting the longer-term management of banking platforms. The Backbase Migration Agent helps move existing customer journeys, integrations and business logic onto its Banking OS, adapting existing assets rather than rebuilding them from scratch.
Meanwhile, the Backbase Upgrade Agent supports platform maintenance by applying changes and highlighting potential issues. The company aims to make upgrades a more routine part of software delivery rather than requiring separate, standalone projects. Delivery Factory is available across all markets
The launch comes as banks explore ways to use AI to improve software development and reduce the time required to introduce new digital services. However, general-purpose coding assistants may not account for the specific requirements, architecture and operational constraints of individual banking environments. Backbase is positioning Delivery Factory as a domain-specific alternative built around its own banking platform and delivery processes.
Backbase’s Banking OS brings banking operations together within a single platform, enabling employees and AI agents to collaborate across activities including onboarding, customer servicing and advisory services. More than 120 banks use the company’s <a href="https://bitcomme.com/how-oracle-and-servicenow-are-reshaping-wfm-at-hr-tech-2026-2/” title=”How Oracle and ServiceNow are Reshaping WFM at HR Tech 2026″>technology across retail, small and medium-sized business, commercial, private banking and wealth management markets.
Founded in 2003 by Jouk Pleiter, Backbase operates across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. The company has also been recognised as a category leader by industry research firms including Forrester, Gartner and IDC.
Backbase CTO digital banking Greg Fahy said, “Delivering banking software takes a whole team. Business analysts, solution architects, delivery leads and engineers need to stay aligned as a customer requirement becomes a working experience. Delivery Factory gives them and their AI agents a shared foundation: what the bank has agreed on, how its project is designed and how Backbase works. That helps teams spend less time reconstructing context and more time delivering the changes their customers need.”
