Frontier Fiber is already active in many Middletown neighborhoods, with plans beginning at 500 Mbps. The company requires an address check because fiber does not reach every house.
The U.S. Census Bureau estimated Middletown’s population at 48,439 on July 1, 2025, and Zillow reported a May 2026 median sale price of $293,333. For someone who needs an office, the local stock of older detached homes, condos, and multifamily properties creates more possibilities than a market dominated by smaller vacation properties.
Life outside the home office tends to gravitate toward Main Street. Instead of driving elsewhere for every meal or errand, residents have restaurants, shops, and services concentrated downtown, with Wesleyan University a few blocks away.
Bradley International Airport is approximately 30 road miles from Middletown’s city center. One particularly useful detail about Russell Library is its reservable Pod, a room intended for one or two people. A remote worker who needs privacy for a meeting has a better option than whispering from a corner table.
Branford
A remote worker in Branford does not have to rely solely on a public library when the house becomes distracting. That is the number worth remembering if a remote position includes quarterly trips to headquarters. A morning flight does not require adding an hour-long airport drive to the itinerary.
Wallingford
Wallingford Public Library remains open until 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday, later than the libraries in most towns on this list. Its doors open at 9:30 am on those days, which means a resident can move an almost complete workday there when home internet fails. Frontier Fiber is available at qualifying addresses, with residential service well above the 100 Mbps requirement.

Tweed New Haven Airport is roughly 15 to 18 road miles from central Wallingford, depending on the route. Wallingford also has a Hartford Line station, which becomes useful when an occasional in-person obligation can be handled by train instead of car. New Milford
Frontier Fiber is active in many parts of New Milford, with plans beginning at 500 Mbps, but service varies by property. Anyone looking beyond the more developed sections should verify wired internet and cellular reception before making an offer.

Restaurants, shops, and the library cluster around the Village Green, while Lover’s Leap State Park puts hiking close to town. Westchester County Airport is roughly 50 road miles away.
Groton
Groton Public Library gives residents an established alternative to working at home, while Frontier Fiber serves qualifying Groton addresses at speeds comfortably above 100 Mbps. Checking the individual property still matters, especially when comparing houses outside the more developed parts of town.
The population figure requires some care here. The Census Bureau tracks the City of Groton separately from the larger Town of Groton. The town had an estimated 39,138 residents in 2025, which is the figure relevant to this entry. Zillow reported a $380,167 median sale price in May 2026, and 69 Groton listings were on the market during June.
General Dynamics Electric Boat and Naval Submarine Base New London bring thousands of workers into the area, supporting businesses and services throughout the year. Bluff Point State Park is a useful after-work address, with trails running through woods and along the water. Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport is roughly 50 road miles away, so Groton is not the strongest choice for frequent flyers. For an occasional trip, however, the drive remains workable.
Windsor
The driving distance between the town and Bradley International Airport is short. Someone expected to fly to company meetings every month can get to a major commercial airport without recreating the commute that remote work eliminated.
Working from home is practical as well. Frontier Fiber reaches qualifying Windsor addresses, and Windsor Public Library remains open until 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday.
Windsor’s estimated 2025 population was 29,879. Zillow put the May 2026 median sale price at $335,833, keeping it below several towns farther from Bradley. Established neighborhoods contain detached homes where a third bedroom or den can serve as an office rather than a temporary workspace each morning.
Windsor Center handles many of the things residents need during the week, including the library and town services. Windsor Station also serves Hartford Line and Amtrak trains.
When the workday ends, Northwest Park has hundreds of acres of fields, woods, and trails. The airport, however, is what makes Windsor difficult to overlook for someone whose “remote” position still involves regular flights.
Guilford
Guilford Free Library has reservable study rooms, an important distinction for someone who occasionally needs privacy rather than simply a chair and internet connection. The library opens at 9:00 am six days a week under its current schedule and stays open until 8:00 pm on Monday and Thursday. Frontier Fiber reaches qualifying Guilford homes.
Space costs more here. The town had an estimated 22,322 residents in 2025, and Zillow reported a $526,667 median sale price in May 2026, the highest among these ten towns. Zillow counted 70 Guilford listings on the market during June.
That price buys into a housing market with plenty of year-round detached homes, but someone comparing Guilford with Middletown or Windsor will notice the difference immediately. A home office that requires an extra bedroom carries a larger price tag.
The Green keeps the library, restaurants, shops, and town buildings close together. Westwoods supplies miles of trails elsewhere in town without requiring a weekend drive.
Tweed New Haven Airport is roughly 12 road miles away. Guilford therefore makes the strongest financial case for someone who can absorb the higher housing cost and places considerable value on short airport trips and having a separate office.
Cheshire
The summer schedule at Cheshire Public Library is a detail worth knowing before someone decides to make it a regular Friday afternoon office. Saturday hours shorten to 9:00 am-1:00 pm during July and August, then return to the longer 9:00 am-5:00 pm schedule in September. Frontier Fiber is available at qualifying Cheshire addresses.

Daily errands tend to follow Route 10 rather than revolve around one compact downtown. The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail changes the routine in a more concrete way. It runs through Cheshire, giving someone who has spent the day indoors a ready-made route for walking, running, or cycling. Tweed New Haven Airport is less than 20 road miles away.
Glastonbury
Welles-Turner Memorial Library sits at 2407 Main Street, placing a backup workspace directly in one of Glastonbury’s main commercial areas. Residential fiber service is also available at qualifying addresses, clearing the basic connectivity requirement before lifestyle considerations enter the discussion.

Detached houses dominate much of the residential market, which improves the odds of finding a third bedroom or another room that can remain dedicated to work.
Main Street and Hebron Avenue handle much of the town’s shopping and dining. Bradley International Airport is roughly 20 road miles away, substantially closer than the airport options available from New Milford or Groton.
Southington
Southington Public Library can accommodate a conventional workday and then some. Current hours run from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday. Frontier Fiber is available at qualifying Southington homes, including service tiers beginning well above 100 Mbps.

The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail also crosses town, making it easy to get outside without driving somewhere specifically for exercise.
Bradley International Airport is roughly 30 road miles away, reasonable for occasional company travel but not as convenient as Windsor. The library here closes four nights, with 8:00 pm closing times, which means someone dealing with roofers, renovations, visiting relatives, or a failed router does not automatically lose the afternoon.
Finding The Right Connecticut Address
The housing numbers make the tradeoffs clearer. Zillow’s May 2026 median sale prices ranged from $293,333 in Middletown to $526,667 in Guilford. Wallingford, Branford, and Windsor all came in below $340,000, while Cheshire, New Milford, and Glastonbury required larger budgets.
Airport proximity affects the shortlist, but buyers should first verify that the airport serves the required destination. New Milford asks residents to accept a much longer airport trip in exchange for its housing inventory and less developed surroundings.
Internet service needs the final check at the individual’s house. Frontier confirms active fiber networks in these communities, but availability can change from one street to another. Cellular backup deserves the same scrutiny. Before signing anything, a remote worker should check the address on the FCC National Broadband Map and test the phone carrier inside the house. There are plenty of addresses in Connecticut that are ideal for remote work.
