The Financial Accounting Foundationannouncedthat Hillary H. Salo will become the next chair of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), effective July 1, 2027. Salo, who currently serves as FASB’s vice chair, will lead the organization through June 30, 2034.
Since returning to FASB as technical director in 2020, Salo has been advancing the Board’s strategic priorities and stakeholder engagement. Her career includes serving as an audit partner at KPMG LLP, where she worked in audit quality and accounting advisory services, and as a professional accounting fellow at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Salo will succeed Richard R. Jones, whose term ends next June.
Salo’s appointment has created a vacancy on the seven-member FASB board, along with another open board position opening July 1, 2027. Thus, the Foundation is seeking candidates with senior-level technical accounting experience, preferably from global or national accounting firms to replace Salo’s position, as well as candidates with preparer experience and public or private company backgrounds.
Interested candidates can submit applications to Spencer Stuart at[email protected]by September 1, 2026.
At the upcoming Finance & Accounting for Bioscienceconference, representatives from both FASB and SEC will be on hand to update the audience on the entities’ activities.
