‘The Perfect Lie’ Yoo Yeon-seok was cleared of sexual assault charges.
On Oct. 31, the second episode of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Perfect Lie’ aired, featuring conflicting claims between Yoo Yeon-seok (playing Min Jun-ho) and Seo Hyunjin (playing Kang Ji-seon).
Min Jun-ho (played by Yoo Yeon-seok) and Kang Ji-seon (played by Seo Hyunjin) revealed sharply opposing positions over what happened the previous night. As a result of that incident, Kang Ji-seon was investigated as an alleged sexual assault victim and Min Jun-ho as the alleged perpetrator.
During questioning, Min Jun-ho said that if he had known Kang Ji-seon disliked something, he would never have crossed the line, and that he did not understand why Kang Ji-seon suddenly changed her position and was acting like a victim. He also said he had sent text messages and delivered porridge in the morning, and that his feelings for Kang Ji-seon were sincere.
But Kang Ji-seon, weeping and saying she was the victim, said she had wanted a kiss, not intercourse. Afterwards, because there was no evidence, Min Jun-ho was dismissed without indictment, and Kang Ji-seon could not accept that. She even showed hostility toward the police who came to her home to see her.
Kang Ji-seon, who said her memory was spotty and she did not remember well, suddenly recalled a scene when she saw neatly arranged wine glasses at home. She realized that the wine glass she had left on the living room table had been washed, and she was convinced the glass had been drugged.
As the dispute over the truth continued, Lee Hwa-young (playing Ok Ja-yeon) ultimately suggested a lie detector test to both of them. Kang Ji-seon insisted on taking it, and Min Jun-ho hesitated but finally agreed. The test results showed Kang Ji-seon was lying and Min Jun-ho was telling the truth. In particular, Min Jun-ho learned that in the past Kang Ji-seon had ruined another man’s life in connection with a sex crime.
Meanwhile, a short preview for episode 3 was briefly released at the end of the broadcast. Unable to accept that Min Jun-ho was innocent, Kang Ji-seon revealed a plan to destroy him, raising questions.
