Va. (WHSV) – Patients, visitors and staff at Augusta Health now have access to food, drinks and other essentials around the clock following the grand reopening of the hospital’s newly renovated Go Market by Lori’s
Lori’s Gifts celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting Tuesday, Aug. 11. The store, formerly known as Lori’s Gifts, has been transformed into a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week shopping experience.
The renovated market features updated flooring, refreshed interiors and a new layout. Customers can also find fresh food, snacks, drinks, Starbucks beverages, gifts, personal care items and other grab-and-go necessities.
During staffed hours, customers can shop with Lori’s Gifts employees. But when staff members are not present, shoppers can enter using a credit or debit card, phone or smartwatch and pay for the items they take.
Angie Dritto, manager of Lori’s Gifts at Augusta Health, said the new model also provides more flexibility for employees while ensuring the store remains available to the hospital.
“When our staff is not here for you, there’s a gate, and you’ll use your credit card, debit card, tap pay with your phone or smartwatch,” Dritto said. “Once you come in, whatever items you take with you is what you’re charged.”
Augusta Health has partnered with Lori’s Gifts for more than a decade. Todd Lilley, the executive sponsor of the project, said the idea was developed to provide patients, families and hospital employees with more amenities, particularly during evenings and overnight hours.
“If you’re a family member, that’s just waiting to get information, and you’re here in the emergency department, are you here waiting for tests? Even if you’re waiting for a prescription, [if] you just have a moment that you can come and look around and browse, maybe find something that you need.”
Lilley said the expanded offerings go beyond traditional convenience items. Customers can now purchase freshly made sandwiches, fresh flowers and freshly brewed Starbucks coffee.
Lilley adds the transition to Go Market by Lori’s is part of an effort to make the hospital experience more convenient and comfortable for patients, visitors and staff.
