YILPORT Gebze has increased RTG crane productivity by 21% after deploying Kaleris’s optimisation technology
YILPORT Holding has reported a 21% increase in moves per hour at its Gebze Terminal in Turkey after implementing Kaleris’ RTG Optimization (RTG-O) solution, improving the performance of its existing fleet of 31 rubber-tired gantry cranes.
The deployment forms part of YILPORT’s wider strategy to increase automation, improve operational efficiency and make greater use of existing terminal assets. The company said the technology is helping dispatchers make faster, data-driven decisions while reducing unnecessary crane movements and idle time.

Before RTG-O was introduced, Gebze faced the challenge of increasing productivity without adding equipment. Kaleris’s system continuously analyses terminal demand and recommends RTG assignments in real time, helping balance workloads across cranes with different capabilities.
At Gebze, the technology dynamically prioritises crane assignments according to vessel, truck and yard demand, while reducing unnecessary travel and idle periods. The company said these changes helped deliver a 21% increase in moves per hour within three months.

The optimisation system is also designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through improved routing, reduced idle time and more efficient workload distribution.
YILPORT Gebze, the company’s home terminal, already features electrified RTGs, optical character recognition integration with the N4 terminal operating system and other digital systems supporting cargo handling.
Following the results in Türkiye, YILPORT plans to deploy RTG-O at three additional European terminals: Liscont and Leixões in Portugal, and Gävle in Sweden. The expansion will include remote-controlled A-RTGs.
