Aichi and Nagoya AG Golf
女’s individual and team events ranked fourth in both individual and team events
“Professional conversion after the Asian Games
“Steady golfer commitment for a long time”
Yang Yoon-seo, a rising star in Korean women’s golf, finished the challenge in fourth place in the individual event at the 2026 Aichi and Nagoya Asian Games. He failed to enter the medal table, but he gained meaningful experience as a golfer in the future and promised to challenge himself on a bigger stage.
Yang Yoon-seo finished fourth with 7-under 273 overall by reducing two pars to five birdies and three bogeys in the fourth round of the tournament held at the East Course of Kasugai Country Club (par 70) in Aichi Prefecture, Japan on the 3rd. He is eight strokes behind Sharath Urs Pranavi (India, final 15-under 265), who won the individual gold medal, and seven strokes ahead of Shannon Tan (Singapore) and In Luo Ning (China, final 14-under 266). The Korean women’s national team, with Park Seo-jin and Kim Kyu-bin along with Yang Yoon-seo, also failed to win a medal in the team event, with a final total of 7-under 553, falling behind third-place Taiwan (10-under 550).
Yang Yoon-seo, who met with reporters after the game, said, “The result is a little bit disappointing. In fact, when I saw the leaderboard at the 16th hole, I knew that I was two strokes away from third place in the team event, so I thought I should do well at the 17th and 18th holes. “Both holes were not easy, so I tried to play safely, but a second shot mistake came out in the last hole, leading to a bogey,” he said.
Nevertheless, Yang Yoon-seo is said to have grown one step further in the process of preparing for this tournament. Yang Yoon-seo, who won the first Korean player’s title at the Asia-Pacific Women’s Amateur Championship held in New Zealand earlier this year, has achieved several top-ranked performances by participating in the LPGA Tour and the KLPGA Tour. Subsequently, he ranked fourth at the Asian Games, where many professional players participated, confirming his competitiveness.
Yang Yoon-seo said, “In my future career, I will experience international competitions abroad, and I think the biggest harvest is that I was able to experience the atmosphere in advance through the Asian Games. Since last year, he has been a member of the national team and experienced overseas competitions, which helped him grow on his own,” he said. He also mentioned the stage and the Olympics that any national team would dream of beyond the Asian Games. “The Olympics is the stage that every athlete dreams of,” he said. There is still a long way to go, but I really want to go out at least once because I think the opportunity will come someday,” he said.
After the Asian Games, Yang plans to turn professional. “I want to always be a steady golfer and a player who has been active on the tour for a long time,” he said, who pledged to grow through his experience at the Asian Games.
