WYFF 4 continues to look for answers after cyberattack at AnMed Medical Center
Confusion is continuing to mount for AnMed health care patients as the WYFF News team has been hearing concerns from AnMed patients. We reached out to AnMed and asked the hospital system a list of questions.
After the cyberattack, we wanted to know how the medical records may have been impacted. Although AnMed did not answer our specific list of questions, we found the following answers on AnMed’s website:
“Doctors have access to medical records and the ability to prescribe medications and procedural treatments as needed, though on a temporarily limited basis. Protecting patients and providing safe care remain their highest priorities. In some cases, they may reschedule appointments or order transfers, diversions and new processes.”
The hospital system website also says:
“Access to certain systems and services is temporarily affected by the cybersecurity incident.”
If you’re concerned about your personal information, AnMed says, “Our investigation is ongoing with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity specialists and state and federal authorities. At this time, we have not confirmed the scope of any potential impact to patient information.”
It’s the same for financial information. AnMed says, “At this time, we have not confirmed the scope of any potential impact to patient health or financial information. If our investigation determines that patient information was affected, we will notify individuals and provide guidance on recommended next steps.”
As for scheduling, AnMed says, “Because some of our systems remain unavailable, we may not be able to access schedules or proactively contact every affected patient as quickly as we would like. At this time, we cannot confirm the status of individual appointments or procedures unless patients have been contacted directly.”
